Syllabus

Dear Students:

Welcome to Computer Science at San Gorgonio Middle School. My goal as your teacher is to guide you in exploring the study of information through interactive and student centered lessons. We will build websites, apps, and work with circuit boards in order to discover computer science together.

I am looking forward to an exciting and rewarding year together!

Course Description

Computer Science is an introduction to the art of programming. This course will teach students to think algorithmically and solve problems efficiently. Topics include:

  1. Animation and Games
  2. Web Development
  3. Problem Solving

note: This course is an introduction and thus designed for students who have no prior experience with programming. This course will be taught using multiple online resources(i.e. Code.org, Scratch, KhanAcademy, etc...).

Grading Policy

Students' grades are based on mastery of concepts covered in class.

Recommended Supplies

Students are recommended to have the following supplies in class daily:

  1. Journal ~ College Ruled Notebook Preferred (70+ sheets)
  2. Writing Utensils
  3. Chromebook

Student Tardy Policy

If a student is not in his/her seat when the bell rings, he/she is TARDY.

Absences and Make ups

Students have the opportunity to make up missed work due to an absence. However, a student is advised to come in before/after school to receive missing assignments.

Classroom Rules

In order to maintain a safe, productive, and calm classroom environment it is essential that each student follow the school safety rules and the classroom rules which are as follows:

  1. Be in class on time and ready to learn.
  2. Listen to and follow directions the first time they are given.
  3. Respect others and their property.
  4. Always use appropriate and non-offensive language and voice tone.

Students who are unable to follow these rules are subject to administrative consequences.
